Pyongyang, February 8 (KCNA) -- According to Minju Joson, at least 600 institutions, industrial establishments, farms and schools across the DPRK became model sports units last year.
The Ministry of IT Industry and the State Hydro-Meteorological Administration arranged sports facilities and apparatuses and regularly conducted sports activities including table tennis, volleyball and tennis. In the course, they won the honor of model sports unit.
Many units, including the Changgwang Health Complex, the Ryuwon Footwear Factory, the Pyongyang Steel Works, the Unjon County Foodstuff Factory and the South Hamgyong Provincial Communication Management Bureau, organized colorful sports games on a regular basis to make their employees acquire at least one sports technique, thus winning the title of twice model sports unit.
The Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm under the South Hamgyong Provincial Rural Economy Committee, the Township Farm of Suan County in North Hwanghae Province and the Jisin Vegetable Farm in Huichon City of Jagang Province encouraged such traditional sports games as wrestling, swinging and seesawing along with ball events. As a result, many farms across the country entered the ranks of model sports units.
Pyongyang University of Publication and Printing, Sariwon Primary School for Orphans and many other universities and schools became model sports units. -0-
