The Korean People's Army is an army that absolutely trusts and follows its leader alone and is faithful to the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea and an invincible elite revolutionary army equipped with modern offensive and defensive means.
It is the truth proved by the history of the Korean revolution that only when the revolutionary armed forces increase their politico-ideological might in every way, can they perform their mission and play their role as an invincible army.
Long ago, the great leader Kim Jong Il attached primary importance to establishing the Party's monolithic system of command throughout the army and energetically led the work.
One day, he said the People's Army should be under the monolithic leadership of the Party in order to keep its intrinsic nature and perform its honourable mission and duty with credit and added that the Party's leadership is the lifeline of the People's Army.
And he stated that the existence of the People's Army and its strengthening and development are unthinkable apart from the leadership of the Party.
The leadership of Kim Jong Il over the army was a glorious course that definitely ensured the Party's leadership over the People's Army and filled the whole army with the spirit of remaining loyal to the Party's ideology and with the revolutionary spirit of thoroughly implementing the Party's intention.
Kim Jong Il put forward the programme of modelling the whole army on the Juche idea in the 1970s and saw that the People's Army conducted a campaign of learning after Kim Hyok and O Jung Hup in the 1980s. And in the 1990s he initiated the movement to win the title of O Jung Hup-led 7th Regiment and led it to be developed into a mass movement of the whole army.
Under his wise leadership, the Party's leadership system was firmly established in the People's Army and the revolutionary spirit of following the Party's ideology alone pervaded the whole army.
Indeed, it is a precious fruition of the outstanding leadership of Kim Jong Il that the Korean People's Army was strengthened and developed into an army that firmly trusts and follows only its leader and is faithful to the leadership of the Party.
