Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) — New standards and new records were set one after another at many units of the national economy, the national economic plans for January were fulfilled and dozens of projects were completed and inaugurated across the DPRK in a month.

The smelters of the blast furnace shops Nos. 1 and 2 of the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex overfulfilled their daily pig iron production plan by applying advanced furnace operation methods capable of increasing the output of molten iron per charge.

The officials and workers of the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex increased the production of iron and steel by applying efficient furnace operation methods while ensuring the normal operation of the energy-saving oxygen heat blast furnace whose capacity improved.

Workers and technicians of the Chollima Steel Complex, the Posan Iron Works, the Hungnam Electrode Factory and the Chongjin Steel Plant steadily increased their production.

The Musan Mining Complex increased the production of concentrated iron ore by improving the operating ratio of equipment, and the miners of Unnyul and Jaeryong mines over-fulfilled their January quotas by giving priority to tunneling and earth-scrapping.

Workers and technicians of the Namhung Youth Chemical Complex fulfilled their plans while providing favourable conditions for production and the Sunchon Chemical Complex carried out its production plan for fertilizer needed at greenhouse farms at 111 percent.

The nationwide electricity production plan for January was fulfilled thanks to the workers of every power base.

Colliers in the coal-mining industry carried out their national coal production plans for January at 103 percent.

The Ministry of Machine-building Industry fulfilled its plan for January.

The Komdok Mining Complex opened up a prospect of producing much more minerals by conducting a high-speed tunneling campaign and the Hyesan Youth Mine, Inphyong Youth Mine, Riwon Mine and the Sijung Mine overfulfilled their January plans by boosting cooperation between shifts and solving the technical problems arising in increasing production.

Thanks to the labor struggle of workers in the forestry sector, the nationwide timber production plan for January was carried out at 104 percent.

The workers in the railway transport sector carried out the nationwide freight transport plan for January at 102.4 percent.

The Sangwon Cement Complex fulfilled its January plan ahead of schedule and the Sunchon Cement Complex produced over 10 000 more tons of cement than planned.

The Taean Friendship Glass Factory fulfilled its sheet glass production plan for January at 104 percent.

Officials and workers in the light industry sector brought about an upsurge in production and thus concluded their national economic plan for January on all indices.

The fishing industry launched a drive for intensive fishing and put the sea culture on a scientific basis of higher level, thus bringing about innovations in production.

The news of the completion of projects conducive to the economic construction and the improvement of the people’s standard of living and the news of moving into new houses in the rural areas, which are becoming prosperous and civilized day by day, encouraged all the people across the country in the dynamic advance toward the Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

The Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm, built as an unprecedented group of large greenhouses and a creation of love for the people in the northwestern part of the country, proves the validity and vitality of the policy of the WPK on regional development.

The first-stage modernization project of the Ryongsong Machine Complex was concluded, thus laying the material and technical foundations for the national economic development and a new progress in the machine-building industry as a whole.

The First District of the Aedo Tideland in North Phyongan Province, the catalyst production base of the Namhung Youth Chemical Complex, the catalyst production base and the slow effective granule urea fertilizer production line of the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex, the Kaesong Finishing Building Materials Factory, the Kyongam Building Materials Factory, the Kaesong Municipal Tree Nursery were inaugurated and the Haeju Farm Machine Factory, the Sariwon Tannery, the Unpha Cement Factory and the Unpha Corrugated Paper Factory renovated in January this year, providing solid foundations for the self-supporting economy and prosperity by dint of self-reliance.

The fourth large architectural group of another type, which combines architectural formative art with advancement, has been built in the Hwasong area in Pyongyang, nearing inauguration.
