Leave Our Core Interests alone with Taiwan Issue – China Warns

Date: 10/12/2025 | Source: Ministry of Foreign Affairs (EN) | Read original version at source

American double-dealing nature is getting more apparent these days: The U.S. advocates the improvement of bilateral relations with China and states that the U.S. understands the importance of Taiwan issue to China in public, while encouraging Taiwan’s “independence” movement and selling arms to them in secret.

On November 13, the U.S. approved the sale of war supplies to Taiwan worth of hundreds of millions of U.S. dollars.

And when Taiwan authorities made public their budget for the purchase of special weapons worth of tens of billions of U.S. dollars on November 26, the U.S. Department of State, the chairperson of the American Institute in Taiwan and the like publicized the stand that they support Taiwan in equipping itself with major defense capabilities to the standard equivalent to the crisis it is now confronted with.

Such a double-dealing trick of the U.S. has triggered a strong protest from China.

The spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry repeatedly stressed that China remains unchanged in its stand against the official exchange and military contact between the U.S. and Taiwan, and urged the U.S. to keep the promise the president has made regarding Taiwan issue and to safeguard China-U.S. relations, and peace and stability of Taiwan Strait in deed.

Such practice of the U.S. of using Taiwan as an old tool for its politico-diplomatic purpose will only incur a bigger discord between the U.S. and China that regards Taiwan issue as its hard-core interest among other interests. What’s worse, it will act as an instability factor in the regional situation.
