The DPRK goes full steam ahead with the Regional Development 20×10 Policy.
As for regional development, the Workers’ Party of Korea plans to ensure the regional people enjoy the same material life as that of the citizens of the capital city and lead a life in good health free from worries and in an environment that is as cultured and hygienic as in the capital city.
In other words, the WPK maintains that anyone who is born in the DPRK should lead an abundant and civilized life under the socialist policy of the state, whether they live in the capital city or regions, in towns or mountain villages, and it is determined to see to it that they do so without fail.
At the groundbreaking ceremony of a hospital and a leisure complex in Kangdong County for the Regional Development 20×10 Policy held in February this year the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said that the ideal result of the regional development policy is that the whole country should be put on an even cultural level, too, by building up the regions to be as wonderful as the capital city is and transforming the environment of the regional people for a cultured life.
As a result of the successful completion of the first-year task for the implementation of the regional development policy launched last year under the wise leadership of the WPK, the modern regional-industry factories built in 20 cities and counties are now boosting the production.
If the regional development policy is carried out, the regional people will surely be able to attain the level of urbanites in material and economic life, with modern light industry factories to be built in ten years to come in every city and county.
However, the WPK was not satisfied with this. It included in its regional development policy the projects to build a modern healthcare facility, leisure complex and grain storage facility in every city and county and works stubbornly to push ahead with them.
Kim Jong Un visited the near-to-completion Kangdong County Hospital on October 30 to learn in detail about the construction. He said that the construction of the hospital, the starting point of the development of the public health sector in the struggle for regional rejuvenation this year, will come to successful fruition before long, adding that the present reality in which groundbreaking leads to inauguration in the same year is a clear proof of the validity and vitality of the WPK’s policy and an epitome showing the remarkable speed of advance of socialist Korea.
