Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, visited the Kangdong County Hospital which is nearing completion on Oct. 30. The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was accompanied by Jo Yong Won, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK. Going round various places of the hospital including the underground parking lot, inpatient ward, operating room and doctors' room, he learned in detail about the construction. He gave instruction to assemble and install in a responsible manner the medical equipment within November as the overall construction of the hospital has been completed at a highly qualitative level and indicated various tasks for the preparations for operating the hospital. He underlined the need to disseminate the excellent experience gained in the construction of the hospital and exemplary creation spirit displayed in it to the regional construction units at all levels without delay in order to vigorously launch the full-scale project of public health modernization across the country at the highest qualitative level. As the construction of hospitals, which is an ensemble of the latest medical technology and building techniques, is the sphere that requires higher level of functionality and proficiency than any other construction project, it presents itself as a primary task to build up the regional construction forces capable of pushing ahead with the huge projects for public health rejuvenation in order to accelerate its implementation on a scientific basis in a far-sighted way, he said. Protecting the people's lives and promoting their health are the most important state affairs than any other one and therefore, the WPK's policy for the healthcare revolution should be steadily carried out in an expanded and intensified way, he stressed. Our important goal of modernizing the public health sector from now is to build modern hospitals like the Kangdong County Hospital in 20 cities and counties without fail every year, he said, adding that a decisive measure should be taken to expand the forces for building the public health facilities in the country. He said that the forthcoming plenary meeting of the Party Central Committee will examine the issue of establishing modern hospitals like the Kangdong County Hospital in the districts of Pyongyang. He set forth the important tasks for the expansion and development of the healthcare revolution, including the issue of standardizing and optimizing the design of general hospital, special hospital and other hospitals in architectural and health and hygienic aspects according to their classes and categories in the building of hospitals and the issue of making a foresighted calculation of the conditions for supplying various kinds of materials as the medical service facilities will be densely stationed across the country. He also pointed out the backwardness and irrationality of the national system of training experts in the public health sector, and instructed to reexamine the issue of training experts in the medical sector and take realistic and substantial strong measures to readjust it. The construction of the Kangdong County Hospital, the starting point of the development of the public health sector in the struggle for regional rejuvenation this year, will soon reach a successful result, he said, adding that the reality in which groundbreaking leads to inauguration in the same year is a clear proof of the validity and vitality of the Party's policy and an epitome showing the remarkable speed of the advance of socialist Korea. He assigned the task related to the inauguration of the hospital.
