The Russian foreign ministry issued a statement regarding the Resolution of the 69 th session of the IAEA General Conference “Nuclear safety, security and safeguards in Ukraine”.
Russia maintains that the Resolution far exceeds the remit of the Statute of the IAEA and is therefore politically and legally null and void for Russia, the Statement noted.
Notwithstanding sustained pressure from Western countries, support for anti-Russia resolution of the IAEA, reintroduced annually since 2023, has experienced a steady decline, it said. It exposed that among the states endorsing this resolution are the principal architects of anti-Russian campaigns within the IAEA and other international fora, as well as their subordinate allies.
The Russian foreign ministry in its statement unequivocally rejected the speculations and political distortions contained in the resolution, particularly its insinuations regarding Russia’s ownership of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), alongside its demands for Russia to cede territories that have been incorporated into Russia in accordance with the will of their inhabitants and international law.
