The Korean Central News Agency issued a following commentary under the title "What Does the Changed Stand of the West on Palestine Show?".
France announced on July 24 that it would officially recognize the State of Palestine in the UN General Assembly session to be held in September. The United Kingdom, Canada and Finland expressed their will to recognize Palestine as a sovereign state, though conditional. Such moves are going on as the days go by.
This can be said that a meaningful change has been made in the stand of the Western countries which have long enforced the pro-Israel one-sided policy in pursuant of the United States over the Palestinian issue.
More than 140 countries of the UN member nations have recognized Palestine as a state in support of the "two-states solution." The Group of Seven and most of the EU member nations, however, have ignored this. Concerning the present situation of Gaza, the West tolerated the national extermination moves of the Zionists, talking about Israel's unilateral "right to self-defence" following the stand of the United States.
Today's abrupt change of stand of the Western countries means that they are in a difficult position not to blindly follow the United States and Israel any longer in the solution of the Middle East problem.
They have apprehensions that they might be seated in the dock of the international tribunal for their servility to the United States and Israel. For the present, they are in a position difficult to maintain their power due to growing protest at home against the government ignoring inhumane atrocities in Gaza. This made the rulers of the Western states change their stand on the issue of Palestine.
The change in the pro-US Western camp suggests once again that the international isolation of the United States and Israel negating the international justice and demand of the times is getting worse and a big rupture is made in the US-led Western alliance.
The reality clearly shows that despite desperate efforts of the United States and Israel to obliterate the Palestinian people's national rights for establishing an independent and sovereign state, the international moves encouraging the establishment of Palestinian state will be further intensified and the forces of evil precipitate their ruin.
