The spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at a recent regular press conference, denounced the EU for sanctioning several Chinese companies and banks as part of the latest round of sanctions against Russia.

China opposes any unilateral sanctions that have no basis in international law or the authorization of the UN Security Council, he said and added that China has been committed to promoting peace talks on the Ukraine crisis.

Stating that China will do what is necessary to firmly safeguard the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of Chinese companies, he urged the EU to stop harming the lawful interests of Chinese companies without any factual basis.
