Tangyol Peak volcano
Tangyol Peak volcano with an altitude of 2 661 metres above sea level forms a long and slender ridge between Haeppal Peak volcano and Jebi Peak volcano.
The top of the peak is covered with an 8-metre-thick layer of white pumice.
The outer slope of the volcano consists of rhyolitic lava, ejecta from the fifth stage of the formation of Mt Paektu.
Tangyol Peak volcano is of significance in studying the volcanic landform of Mt Paektu and the course of cooling of lava.
Haeppal Peak volcano
Haeppal Peak volcano is the second highest peak among the peaks on Mt Paektu with an altitude of 2 719 metres.
The volcanic eruption point of Haeppal Peak volcano is located near the summit of the peak where the radial fault in the southeastern side and the first ring-shaped fault intersect.
At this point, the lava composed of rhyolite with a highly volatile constituent flowed down the southern slope of Mt Paektu. And the flow texture of the lava is still found in 17 spots on Haeppal Peak.
Haeppal Peak volcano is significant in the research into the flow characteristics of rhyolitic lava and the process of change of landform after the Millennium Eruption of Mt Paektu Volcano.
Ssangmujigae Peak volcano
Ssangmujigae Peak volcano with an altitude of 2 626 metres is located on the eastern side of Lake Chon and about 0.8 kilometres north of Hyangdo Peak volcano.
The peak adding to the spirit of Mt Paektu from olden times was named thus as a double rainbow, a rare natural phenomenon, often appears over it.
The lower part of the volcano is covered with angled gravel in various sizes and the upper part is composed of the layers of breccia, yellow tuff, pumice and rhyolitic lava.
The top and slopes of the volcano are covered with a layer of white pumice which is more than 100 metres thick.
The volcano is the only geological relic whose summit is preserved intact among the volcanoes around Lake Chon.
