On May Day in 1946, the first year after Korea’s liberation on August 15, 1945, there was a ceremony for commending model workers in the presence of the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung .
The following day Kim Il Sung arranged a banquet and invited all the model workers across the country.
When he came to the banquet hall, the participants enthusiastically greeted him.
Waving back to them, he repeatedly told them to have a seat.
When all settled down, he stood up with a glass in his hand and proposed the first toast to the top model workers. Then he filled the glass and handed it over to a worker from the then Hungnam Fertilizer Factory.
The worker was overwhelmed by emotions.
Before the country’s liberation he had eked out an existence as a casual worker. Now he attended a state banquet and received a toast from the hero of the nation who won back the country from the Japanese imperialists. It was the greatest honour he could not imagine even in dreams.
As other workers also wept tears of gratitude, Kim Il Sung told them about the situation prevailing in the country and important task of rehabilitating the economy destructed by the Japanese imperialists as soon as possible and building a rich, independent sovereign country. Then he continued: It is impossible to carry out all the tasks facing us with your efforts alone. You should train many innovators like you. Well-informed persons should teach and help less-informed ones so that all can become innovators and be in the lead together.
Hearing him, the workers made up their mind to work harder cherishing his great benevolence.
