The matches of several events in the general field (category of ministries and national agencies) for the 14th National People’s Games came to a close.

It is the unanimous comment of the people that the recent games were an important occasion that added to the nationwide zeal for sports as they demonstrated features of mass sports activities developing day by day.

In the Taekwon-Do event which was the most popular, it was not easy to predict which team would win as all the participating teams possessed a high level of skills.

The Ministry of Information Industry, Ministry of Public Health, Daesong Bank and Foreign Languages Publishing House teams topped the total rankings in their groups in the Taekwon-Do event.

Especially, the players of the Foreign Languages Publishing House who came first in group 4 drew special attention of spectators with their fine performance.

After taking first place in team pattern, they successively won combined power breaking and other individual events.

In the combined power breaking event, the team set a record of breaking 11 pine boards out of twelve, which they applied to break, in five seconds. In the free special technique event, a player of the team flawlessly carried out the breaking of pine boards at one jump.

In the women’s individual power breaking, another player of the team easily smashed two pine boards.

Therefore, the team came first in the group.

In the past, the Foreign Languages Publishing House had recorded more than ten consecutive wins in the Taekwon-Do event.

However, in recent years, they had to try hard to be included in the top three.

They realized that it was the result of their self-content and laziness and carelessness about the developing Taekwon-Do techniques of their rivals.

Therefore, all members of the team worked hard to understand the principles of the national martial art in detail and trained intensely on that basis.

Meanwhile, the State Planning Commission, the Ministry of Finance, the Taehung Trading Guidance Bureau and the Radio-Television Broadcasting Committee of the DPRK took first place in their groups in the men’s basketball event, and the Ministry of Information Industry, the Bureau for Affairs with Diplomatic Corps, the Ponghwa Trade Bureau and the Foreign Languages Publishing House triumphed in their groups in the badminton event.

The Ministry of Land and Environment Protection, the Ministry of Grain Administration, the Unha Trade Bureau and the Academy of Agricultural Science took first place in the shooting event in their groups.
