The Third Session of the 14th National People’s Congress of China took place at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing between March 5 and 11.
It was attended by Xi Jinping, president of the People’s Republic of China, leading officials of the Communist Party of China and the state and delegates.
Li Qiang, premier of the State Council, made a report on the work of the government at the meeting.
He noted that despite complicated and grave environment at home and abroad last year, people of different nations of the whole country bravely advanced and successfully carried out major tasks and duties for economic and social development while overcoming difficulties and steadily stepped up high qualitative development to achieve a series of successes.
He said that in order to do well government affairs in 2025, a year of completing the 14th five-year plan, it must fully carry out the spirit of the tasks set forth at the 20th Congress of the CPC and plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee by setting socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era as the guideline under the leadership of the Party Central Committee.
He stressed the need to attain the goal of the 14th five-year plan and provide a foundation for initiating the 15th five-year plan by extensively and correctly implementing a new development ideal and steadily spurring high qualitative development this year.
The meeting adopted a resolution on the government work report, a decision on an amendment to the representative law of the National People’s Congress and local people’s congresses at all levels, a resolution on the implementation of the national economic and social development plan for 2024 and the national economic and social development plan for 2025 and a resolution on the execution of the central and local budgets for 2024 and the central and local budgets for 2025 and ratified the national economic and social development plan for 2025 and the central budget for 2025.
Li Hongzhong, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, made a closing address.
