Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, received a congratulatory letter from To Lam, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, on January 31.

In the message the general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam extended warm congratulations on behalf of the party, state and people of Vietnam to Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, and the party, state and people of the DPRK on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (January 31 1950-January 31 2025).

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is one of the countries with which the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (the Socialist Republic of Vietnam today) established diplomatic relations before others, the message said.

It noted that in the past course spanning 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the traditional relations of friendship between Vietnam and the DPRK, which were personally provided by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kim Il Sung and had been cultivated by the leaders of several generations of the two countries with much effort, have made steady progress.

It said that the top-level visits between the two sides contributed to laying a solid foundation for the bilateral relations and in particular, the official goodwill visit to Vietnam in March 2019 paid by General Secretary Kim Jong Un served as an important and significant historic landmark as it confirmed the strategic orientation of the development of the relations between the two parties and the two countries and left very beautiful and excellent traces of friendship between the two parties and the two countries.

It said that Vietnam has maintained its external line to make its external line and relations of independence, sovereignty, peace, friendship, cooperation and development multilateral and diverse, take part in the international integration on its own initiative and actively and become a reliable friend and partner and an active and responsible member of the international community despite the complicated and rapid changes of the global and regional situations.

It noted that the Vietnamese party, state and people always attach importance to the traditional relations of friendship with the party, government and people of the DPRK and always remember and value the support and solidarity given by the Korean comrades to the cause of national liberation, state building and national defence in Vietnam.

The party, state and people of Vietnam have always observed with care the successes made by the party, government and people of the DPRK in all aspects in recent years, including the work to prevent and control epidemic diseases, overcome the aftermath of natural disasters, develop the economy and society and improve the people's living standards, and sincerely congratulate them.

Such successes are associated with the will and determination of the Korean comrades to implement the decisions of the Eighth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

We are convinced that the Korean people will victoriously attain the goals for socialism and economic construction based on self-development, development of a prosperous state and improvement of the people's standards of living under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea headed by General Secretary Kim Jong Un.

We are making every effort, together with you, to steadily cultivate and develop the traditional relations of friendship between the two parties and two countries in conformity with the interests of each nation and peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the rest of the world, the message said.

The message expressed firm belief that under the meticulous care and guidance of the leaders of the two parties and two countries, both sides will mark a new milestone in the course of the traditional relations of friendship between Vietnam and the DPRK by holding celebrations for the year 2025 of friendship between Vietnam and the DPRK jointly and successfully through significant exchanges and cooperative activities.

The general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam extended warm greetings to General Secretary Kim Jong Un on the occasion of the spring of 2025, wishing him good health, happiness and success.

He also wished the party, state and people of the DPRK fresh and greater successes in accomplishing the cause of socialist construction.
